James Sun, a member of the church my wife and I attend, is a candidate on Apprentice 6. Here’s James’ message:
You may have seen me on “The Apprentice”….I’m the super energetic guy with crazy hair……trust me, after 5 Redbulls a day, you might get a bit energetic too.
Anyways, I want to thank you personally for signing up with Zoodango during our preview launch. I know you have been waiting patiently for all the networking features. We are officially launched as of today! You can go on the site and create your network links, post user-driven private and public events, zoovite other users, and much more. We need everyone’s help and feedback to build a successful community. We need you to post events to better understand your community interests. We need you to spread the word to organizations that you belong to. We need you to tell your friends about Zoodango.
Many of you have asked me, “Why Zoodango?” Well, here’s my little elevator pitch:
Zoodango aims to take social networking to the next evolutionary step. Myspace, Facebook, and Linkedin have all proven that people are willing to create online profiles, but the industry is now waiting to see how people will use social networking in their daily lives. After all, people don’t sit on a computer 24 hours a day. Zoodango answers this question by providing an integrated-lifestyle platform to help people find and create real relationships and professional networks.
We’re not talking about an online friend of a friend. We are talking about real communication and interactions- both online and offline.

Thanks again,
James Sun

His website starts with an introduction “A different kind of wedding photography… tell your mother to close her eyes”
He wasnt kidding. The first image shocks you and the following images are somewhere between art and strange. I like it and I dont like it at the same time. It’s definitely different. A recurring motif that I noticed is the use of fire and water and death? Check it out: http://www.altf.com
He does have more “normal” wedding pictures your mother would not be shocked by and consider very beautiful and elegant.
Children and kids, namely flower girls and ring boys, are always a site to see at weddings. Usually they are nieces and/or nephews of the bride and groom or children of the bride and groom’s best friends. We should create a complilation video of all the flower girls and ring boys walking down the aisle one day. Doesn’t this flower girl have the most intense eyes. I call them Al Pacino eyes! Except she was absolutely adorable.

Rebekah caught this cute moment during a wedding reception when the mother had her back turned. Kids are so smart!

These twin sisters and their little sister had to be one of our cutest little flower girls…

I have been trying to decide how I want my photography website to look for the past several months. It seems like many photographers are using flash based websites. I thought about going that route, but I felt like I would be giving up control if I did that. Even though my web editing skills are very basic and self-taught, I like to have control of what I see. Also, I am not an expert, but my research tells me flash based websites dont search well. Having text that is relevant to your website in html seems to work best. Perhaps that is why my site is listed first when you google “Tacoma wedding photographers” or “Tacoma wedding videographers.” I’m not listed until the second page when you do that for Seattle. Hopefully that’ll change in the near future after I finish updating my photography website and make it live for everyone.
Having this top position is important for me because I have been trying to run my business without spending money on advertisement. Impossible right? =) The best advertisement so far has been word of mouth. I think I will have to advertise in Seattle Bride or one of the other local magazines in the near future though. At least if I want to market our company more effectively. There is still nothing like print. That is why I still purchase magazines and books even though I can read a lot of it online. And that is another reason why clients pay hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars for that custom designed wedding album.
www.furrygoat.com at PUG Meeting
At our monthly PUG meeting, a regular blogger and down to earth guy named Steve, who works at Microsoft, came to tell us all there was about blogging. Believe it or not, he gets 100,000 hits to his blog every week! If you go to his site, www.furrygoat.com he mainly just talks about things that are current and things that interest him. He’s been blogging for about 5 years. Here are the points he brought up:
- Be passionate about what you blog
- Tell a story
- Write often
- Own a niche
- Participate in the conversation
- Market yourself
- Link
- Use killer titles
- Take risks
- Remember what you write is permanent record
- Be discoverable

Rebekah and I photographed Sergey and Elona’s wedding last year when they got married at Bastyr University Chapel. Their wedding was from 12 PM to 2 AM! These are some of the pages from their wedding album.

Family
Izzy and family couldnt come to Seattle this Christmas so we took advantage of the beautiful weather on Christmas day to go hiking at Rattlesnake Ledge. Its a pretty view up top and the hikes only 4 miles round trip. It was nice =)
Afterwards, we visited my cousins new house and took pictures of their cute little apple head chihuahua named Otis. It’s the cutest little thing.
