I took a picture of this fallen leaf last year in October. It just happened to catch my eye almost begging me to photograph it. It seems that summer has swiftly come to a close and a new season has begun. For me, this means a time to reflect and change… But before that, I better finish some of your wedding videos and photographs!
Hey Honey! Happy 2nd Anniversary! Has it already been that long? I can’t believe it’s been 2 years already. I thank God for you. It’s true what they say that two become one. We grow more alike everyday and especially through the difficult times, God breaks us down so that we can become a stronger couple. I have learned so much through you. You have an amazing heart for others and your giving spirit is something I need to learn more of. You amaze me, you touch me and I can’t live without you. I love you. I know this is mushy putting this on our blog, but oh wells! =)))
Joshua is finishing up grad school at the University of Michigan. Jenny, an alumni of UW in Seattle, is working in Washington DC. How did they meet? You will have to ask them that yourself, but I could tell they are perfect for each other. Jenny’s personality is so bright and she has an amazing smile, but I think it’s her smarts that attracted Jenny to Joshua. Joshua is clearly intelligent, but I think it’s his generosity and soft spoken nature that must have attracted him to Jenny. I could be wrong, but it sounded good anyway =).
We took these pictures in Fremont and ended up near the water front at Myrtle Edwards Park. Towards the end of the engagement portrait session, as we were walking back to the car, I found out how small this world really is. It’s true what they say about 2 degrees of separation or was it 5 degrees or 6? What happened was, I asked Joshua and Jenny where they would live after Joshua graduated with his doctorate in electrical engineering and they said possibly in California. I jokingly told Joshua he should work for Samsung. The reason I said this was because my wife’s cousin graduated from MIT and went to go work for Samsung. I went on to tell Joshua that Samsung was sending our cousin to Stanford. Long story short, Joshua asked me what his name was because my wife’s cousin sounded familiar to him. I told Joshua and amazingly enough, they both went to Seoul National University and were good friends. I tell you… it’s a small world after all. I feel like I’m a wedding bee right now. We are at peak wedding season and I hardly feel like I have the time to update our blog. Many of my brides have been telling me that they check this site often and a couple of you even told me you’re almost addicted to the blog! That gives me pressure to post good stuff. We just had a wedding at the Salish Lodge today and we have another wedding coming up next Saturday so I don’t have time to relax, but we are working on all your weddings!
I do want to report on a new toy I got! About a month ago I posted about getting an Ipod Nano so I could use it with the Nike Plus kit to motivate me to stay in shape. Well I totally fell in love with the thing and it has been motivating me to run! The first time I ran I couldn’t even run 1 mile before I felt sick. Now I’m running back to back 2+ mile runs and the great thing is I feel so much more energy.
The right side of this blog (if you scroll down) even shows my three most recent runs. It keeps track of my fastest mile, furthest run and a bunch of other stats. It really is terrific and I can’t recommend it enough. The cool thing is Apple just came out with the 3rd Generation Ipod Nano. For $150 and $200 dollars you can get an Ipod Nano with 4 gig and 8 gig memory respectively. The shape of the new Ipod Nano isn’t quite as sexy or easy to hold as generation 2, but it has a new killer video feature.
You can watch movies, podcasts and pretty much anything else on this tiny device. I wanted to test out whether I could get wedding videos on there and sure enough I can. I got the 1 hour video below of Angela and Kris’ wedding on my Ipod and it looks AWESOME. The crisp and clear resolution makes viewing video on such a tiny 2 inch screen almost enjoyable. It’s definitely a must have for brides with wedding videos. By the way I sold the old Ipod Nano through Craigslist for $85 and I got it for $100 so I dont feel too bad.
Well I better get back to work! Or sleep….
By the way, if you get the RED Ipod nano a small percentage of the profits go to help fight AIDS in Africa… I think it looks good too.
Kris and Angela got married last year and recently celebrated their first year anniversary. Some of the images from their wedding have served as the “face” of our business for the past year. We normally don’t upload the entire wedding video online because of the size of the files, but Google allows unlimited time and file sizes so I’ve decided to test this feature out. The wedding video size is heavily compressed, but it’s pretty amazing that a one hour video can be placed online.
For any brides that view this video, know that your wedding videos are custom made. All kinds of factors play into how the final product will turn out. Every wedding video will be different because each wedding is unique. When I say unique I mean some are action packed, loud and full of emotion. Other weddings may be more subdued and relaxed. I provide the artistic style of the wedding video and try to create something that is emotional, true and beautiful. If your wedding wasn’t quite perfect, I do what I can to edit out the parts that weren’t so good and allow you to remember the beautiful moments. There are a lot of variables and it takes tremendous amount of focused energy out of me to create wedding videos. I try to place myself in the shoe of the bride, groom, mother of the bride, etc if that is at all possible. It’s pretty special to have a wedding video. Every time I create a finished product I get excited because I know it will mean so much to the bride. I even watch it 4 or 5 times!
When Rebekah and I got married we hired the best wedding videographer we could find. Guess what? He forgot to show! Can you believe that? How does someone forget to show up? I don’t know, but they had the nerve to say why didn’t you call us? My wife said, “Did you want me to stop the ceremony at the altar and call you guys?” I’m still bitter about it since you can’t recreate a wedding, but what can I do?
Before hiring a wedding videographer or cinematographer as some wedding videographers like to call themselves, check out a full video. Some videographers create a short 20 to 30 minute cinematic show of your wedding day and it’s beautiful on the surface, but it lacks depth. Other videographers create no emotion at all and give you two hours of boring material without any creativity. It’s a fine balance to create something worth watching.
Usually, I limit the message of the pastor, priest, officiant to no more than 5 minutes, but in Angela’s wedding the priest was the great uncle of the bride. He gave a very personalized and touching message so he got more coverage. I almost always limit the video to 1 hour max, because I want it to be watchable. If you want to see all 8 tapes worth from your wedding day I suggest purchasing the RAW footage DVD. It’s only $300 extra and no one else will want to watch it with you, but you will probably want it in the long run.
