We had our monthly PUG meeting yesterday at Me Ra Koh’s house. Me Ra, I think, is the next big thing in the wedding photo industry. Actually, scratch that. She is already recognized as someone special in the wedding industry. She was a speaker at WPPI, she’s a terrific writer, she was recently selected by Microsoft for their Pro Photo Gallery and on and on. I’m just glad I know her!
Someone else I’m really glad to know is the person who took the picture above of me on a ferry from Seattle. Her name is Jennifer Finch and I ran into her at yesterday’s PUG meeting. I first worked next to Jennifer when she was photographing Pranika and Aaron’s wedding at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture a couple of years ago. I ran into her again when we did a wedding together at Kiana Lodge for Pauline and Ethan. I was the wedding videographer and Jen was the photographer for both of those weddings. I think I’ve mentioned this before on another post, but as a videographer I get to see a lot of different wedding photographers in action. Some are great, some are okay and a few are bad. Jennifer is one of the great ones in my opinion so if you aren’t going to hire me as your wedding photographer, hire Jennifer Finch. I don’t know what her rates are, but she’s worth every penny!
What makes a great wedding photographer you ask? I think anyone that’s been in the industry for more than a few years has the technical skills down. What it comes down to is attitude and delivery. You have to work well with the clients, make them feel comfortable, respect them, be creative and be a professional. Jennifer is all of those things from what I’ve seen.
